Exponet Exhibition (Pvt.) Ltd. in association with BRAC EPL Investments Limited (BEIL) will organize a three-day long trade show on Green Industrial Equipment, Biodiversity & Renewable Energy Technology. The event, titled "Showcase Clean Development Mechanism Bangladesh (CDMB)" is scheduled to be held from February 16-18, 2012 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka. The announcement was made earlier at a Curtain Raising & Pre-Exhibition Ceremony held on October 11, 2011 at BRAC Centre Inn.

The official curtain raising of the main event was conducted under the auspices of Chief Guest Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali, Chairman of BRAC EPL Investments Limited and BRAC Bank Limited. Khaled Y. Farazi, Managing Director & CEO of BRAC EPL Investments Limited, presided over the occasion. The event was illuminated further by the Guests of Honor namely H.E. Svend Olling, Ambassador, The Royal Embassy of Denmark, Ms. Miriam Otto, Second Secretary- Economic and Commercial Affairs of The Royal Netherlands Embassy and Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank Limited.

Chief guest Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali said on the occasion, "As a proud member of the BRAC family, BEIL's core beliefs are very much based on the social goals of BRAC and that is why we believe that profit and growth are not sutsainable in the modern world without taking care of the environment and community first. We now have added focus on enterprises that aim to enhance social return on investments. We believe that the upcoming "Showcase CDMB" event will play a monumental role in the promotion and propagation of sustainable and green buisness practices and processes. Also, this event offers much needed knowledge-sharing and exposure for Bangladesh towards green technolgies. Ultimately this will help to re-brand Bangladesh as an eco-friendly country so as to attract foreign investment in this sector".

H.E. Svend Olling said, "Our Danida Business-2-Business Program in Bangladesh is contributing to the economic and social development of Bangladesh by assisting in attracting Danish technology and investment to the country's private sector. The B2B Program supports the establishment of profitable, long-term and mutually binding business-to-business co-operations between Bangladeshi and Danish companies. Our B2B-programme has been successful and I hope that the exhibition will also be instrumental in creating future Business-2-Business relations between Bangladesh and Denmark".

Ms Miriam Otto said, "It is important to know that the development of sustainable energy technology is a top priority in the Netherlands. Active partnerships between Dutch industry, government and knowledge institutes have cleared the way for energy innovation and efficiency. We've created partnerships all over the world, and our products are being used worldwide: from wind turbines in China to solar panels in Bangladesh".

Khaled Y. Farazi said, "BEIL is a thought leader in eco-friendly business practices and processes and ideally placed to promote impact-investment in this area. But at present there is a need gap in our country in terms of information and supply of eco-firendly industrial technolgies. By supporting "Showcase CDMB" we want to bring environmentally conscious organizations and the suppliers of greener solutions and technologies closer. Furthermore, BEIL will play the part of a catalyst of CDM projects by developing design documents required for registering eligible CDM Program Activity (CPA), sourcing necessary investment funds and acting as Sales agent to market CERs".

Syed Mahbubur Rahman also shared his words of encouragement saying, "I wish full success to the upcoming "Showcase CDM Bangladesh" event and believe it will be an important step towards promoting Clean Development Mechanism programs in our country. I thank the organizers and all the patrons for taking such noble initiatives".
